Biography:

Signe Crawford grew up in Seattle, taking lessons from Johnnie Jessen (Kenny G’s mentor) and playing clarinet with the Seattle Youth Symphonies. From 1980 until her retirement, she taught private lessons on clarinet, flute, and sax. Along the way, she also taught; band at Queen of Angels school, the Youth Dixieland band at Port Angeles High School, and elementary general music at Clallam Bay School. Additionally, she coached two adult beginning bands; The Spring Chickens, and the Jazzbuds. Her musical groups have included; the PA Symphony, The Marmalades Carinet quartet, The Olympic Saxophone Quartet, various jazz combos, and the Olympic Express Big Band. Presently she’s limiting my playing time to The Sequim City Band. Ms. Crawford has written numerous concert band and ensemble pieces which can be viewed on sheetmusicplus.com.

Signe implements the program Smart Music into her music lessons because of its interactive features. ISmart Music offers thousands of examples to choose from, at all levels. The student gets immediate feedback—-red notes if they’re incorrect and green ones for correct.There are all levels and genres to choose from. Improvisation and music theory are also emphasized.
